Pope Benedict XVI has told priests to use digital technology to spread their message to people of other religions and cultures.

The pontiff, 82, urged priests to use photos, videos, animated features, blogs, and websites.

In his message on Saturday, for the World Day of Communications, he said priests are "challenged to proclaim the Gospel by employing the latest generation of audiovisual resources".

"Priests present in the world of digital communications should be less notable for their media savvy than for their priestly heart, their closeness to Christ," he said.
