Policeman killed after car catches fire

A Police officer has been killed after his patrol car caught fire when it crashed answering a 999 call. The car collided with a van near a notorious Surrey blackspot. The officer, in his thirties, died despite the efforts of bystanders to pull him from the wreckage. It is understood he was alone as he responded to the call in the Lightwater area at 8.30 last night. Two people in the van were slightly hurt but suffered severe shock in the crash in Red Road, Camberley.
