Pillow death father is engaged

A former SAS soldier accused of murdering his terminally ill son is engaged, it emerged today.

Andrew Wragg's fiance was in court yesterday to hear the jury trying the 37-year-old discharged after failing to reach a verdict.

Wragg, whose ex-wife gave evidence against him during the 11-day trial at Lewes Crown Court, was charged with murder after smothering 10-year-old Jacob with a pillow at the family home in Worthing last July. He admits manslaughter on the grounds of diminished reponsibility.

His fiancȥ - giving her name only as Zurhe - said: "Yes I am his girlfriend. Yes, we are engaged."

She has been in court for much of the trial. Wragg and his wife Mary divorced after the death of Jacob who had a rare genetic condition.

Yesterday, Mrs Justice Rafferty discharged the jury. Wragg was released on conditional bail.
