Reality TV star Paris Hilton has paid a jeweller compensation for losing £87,000 of diamonds she borrowed to wear at last year's Oscars.

Hilton is understood to have paid New York company Kwiat £54,000 for the loss of four items.

The gems disappeared after the socialite and A Simple Life star left them in the glove compartment of a car while dining at a restaurant in Los Angeles. Hilton admitted she lost the jewels but her lawyers argued it was not her fault.
