He gets to kiss A-list actresses, has top film directors knocking at his door and is swooned over by legions of female fans.

Yet Ewan McGregor says it is his brother who does a 'proper job for a man'.
The 32-year-old star of Trainspotting and Moulin Rouge said yesterday he had always looked up to his elder brother Colin, 33, an RAF fighter pilot.

'He took me up in his Tornado once and I've never experienced anything like it,' he added. 'He was doing such a manly thing - a proper job for a man.

'He flies at 500mph at 200ft above the ground - incredible - whereas I wear make-up for a living.'

He said that, while he and his brother were close, he found it hard to live up to him when they were at public school in Perthshire in the 1980s.

The actor, whose latest film Young Adam is a dark tale of the moral decline of a Scottish drifter, added: 'There was some sibling rivalry, I guess.

'Not fighting as such. But, well, Colin was academic and sporting, captain of the rugby and cricket teams, and those were the most important things at our school.

'Music and artistic studies, the things I was interested in, were deemed wasters' activities. Copping out. We are different in every way.'

Despite his admiration for his brother's masculinity, McGregor has specialised in full-frontal nudity in his movies and his penis was once described by a women's magazine as 'incredibly handsome'.

He said: 'Being naked on set is like swimming naked. It makes you feel very powerful. It adds to the realism of a film.'
