Murdered mother and daughter died from head wounds

Family tragedy: Susan McFall and daughter Francesca, 18, were killed at home
12 April 2012

A mother and daughter whose bodies were found at their home died of head injuries, an inquest heard today.

Susan McFall, 55, and her 18-year-old daughter Francesca were discovered dead in Oswestry, Shropshire.

Mrs McFall's husband, Hugh, 48, is believed to have killed his wife and daughter before taking his own life in the nearby village of St Martins.

Detective Inspector Michael Homden told the inquest that both women died from head injuries, while Mr McFall was found hanged.

He said both women's bodies were found after officers received a call to attend the family home at around 5am last Friday.

He added: "Inquiries then led us to go to an industrial estate at St Martins and inside there was found the body of a male hanging."

Mr Homden said the investigation into the deaths is likely to take several months. Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths, which they have described as a "family tragedy".

The hearing at Shrewsbury magistrates' court lasted seven minutes and was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
