Met foils criminal re-runs of The Bill

Met police plan to buy costumes from ITV drama The Bill to stop criminals using them to pose as officers.

The force approached the show's producer, Talkback Thames, to buy the uniforms after the series was axed following a 27-year run.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said there were concerns they could be used "by unauthorised persons in the commission of criminal activities". The Met would not comment on the cost.
