Man tipped out of wheelchair by robbers

12 April 2012

Robbers tipped a paraplegic man out of his wheelchair after robbing him of cash and medication.

The 51-year-old victim was left helpless on the ground and is now in hospital after the attack in Southampton yesterday morning.

The thieves took the man's bum bag containing the medication and a quantity of money and then ran off.

He was found on the ground in Palmerston Park by a member of the public, who then called police.

It is believed he had been lying on the ground for around half an hour before he was found.

Pc Ian Pierce from Hampshire police said: "This was a cruel and callous attack on a vulnerable man unable to defend himself.

"To then tip him out of his wheelchair shows just how low these robbers are prepared to go and we need to catch those responsible."
