Man arrested over Nando's shooting

Detectives investigating the gunfight in Nando's restaurant in Shepherd's Bush which left a man dead and an innocent waitress injured have arrested a 20-year-old.

The man, who is not believed to be the main suspect in the shooting, was held at an address in Shepherd's Bush. He was bailed to appear at a west London police station on 6 March.

The arrest came as police named the murder victim as 25-year-old Keiron Bernard, a local disc jockey and record producer. Mr Bernard died after being shot in the chest during the gun battle in which four shots were fired from two handguns. Police are checking one report that he was killed in an argument over a girlfriend.

Mr Bernard had run out of the restaurant and had escaped in a black Honda Prelude but lost control of the car as he lost consciousness. The car collided with a moped and ploughed into a shop where he died. The rider of the moped is recovering in hospital from severe leg injuries.

Police are hunting around eight other gang members who fled the scene before police arrived at around 4.30pm on Wednesday.
