Loneliness as bad as smoking and obesity for your health

Loneliness is bad for your health, according to new research.

Scientists at the Brigham Young University in Utah believe social isolation is equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day, twice as harmful as obesity and more dangerous than not exercising at all.

Those without the support of family, friends or neighbours are more likely to die younger, according to the study of 300,000 people.
