Lip gloss that spots if your drink is spiked with rape drugs

12 April 2012

A lip gloss that doubles as an anti-rape device has gone on sale to protect women from drink spiking.

The 2LoveMyLips concept was today hailed by campaigners as a major step forward in preventing "date-rape".

An estimated 9,887 people in Britain have been victims of drug rape. This includes 627 assaults in 2007 alone. The £9.99 lip gloss comes with test strips. When you dab your drink on to the pink paper, pictured, it turns blue if signs of substances such as GHB or Ketamine are present.

2LoveMyLips inventors Tracy Whittaker and Tina Dutton are in talks with Boots and Tesco about stocking the product.
