Lee Ryan cleared of assault

Pop singer Lee Ryan was cleared yesterday of assaulting two photographers as they tried to take pictures of him leaving a nightclub with a mystery girl.

However, the Blue star was convicted of causing criminal damage by smashing their cameras.

Horseferry Road magistrates in London ordered him to pay £500 compensation.

Ryan, 20, of Vauxhall, South London, was accused of hitting one photographer with a camera and punching the other.

But the judge accepted that he acted in self-defence.
