One of the high-flying creative brains behind the John Lewis adverts has turned her imagination to producing her debut children' s book.

Emer Stamp, 38, who lives in Islington, has written and illustrated The Unbelievable Top Secret Diary of Pig, inspired by the animal the family kept on the Devon farm where she grew up.

She created the story of a pig that goes to Pluto as a personal project aside from the bustle of her day job with adam&eveDDB, the company behind adverts including The Bear and the Hare and The Snowman.

Ms Stamp said: “Working in advertising is very creative but you have a lot of client input. I wanted to do something for myself.”

Ms Stamp endured a series of rejections before finding a publisher for the book, which is released next week. She is currently writing a sequel to the paperback.
