J-Lo sends back the Rolls

Putting her failed romance behind her, Jennifer Lopez has sent back the silver Rolls-Royce Phantom that was a gift from Ben Affleck.

The £250,000 car had been a present on J-Lo's 33rd birthday last year.

Miss Lopez finally ended her on-off engagement to Affleck over dinner at the Beverly Hills restaurant Matsuhisha last week.

A few days later one of the star's bodyguards drove the 19ft-long Rolls-Royce out of the garage of her Hollywood Hills home and back to a showroom in nearby Beverly Hills.

'Giving that car back must have been hard - it not only represents the end of the relationship, but she really loved it.' said a friend. 'But she has to move on.'

The turbulent relationship was one of the most expensive courtships in showbusiness.

The affluent Affleck showered the actress-singer with clothes, cars and jewels, including a £700,000 pink diamond engagement ring, which she stopped wearing last week.

In an interview, the twice-divorced Miss Lopez admitted she was devastated. 'I am extremely brokenhearted,' she said.

'I put enormous effort into my relationship with Ben, but in the end I realised I needed to put my personal and professional life back together.'

Friends of the couple say that despite calling off their £1.5million wedding last September, Miss Lopez was still planning another ceremony until a few weeks ago.

But, after 31-year-old Affleck consistently refused to set a date for the wedding, Miss Lopez decided it was time to finish with him for good.
