Jail for thief who targeted station cars

A thief who broke into more than 100 commuters' cars at stations across London and the South-East was jailed for 20 months today.

Paul Amores, 35, targeted vehicles in station car parks in south-east London, Sussex, Kent and Surrey, as well as at Bluewater. In one day he struck at five stations and caused nearly £40,000 damage. He stole satnavs and property he could sell to fund his drug habit. Amores, of Beckenham, pleaded guilty at Southwark crown court to seven theft charges and one of attempted theft between September and November last year. Pc Bob Gee, of British Transport Police, said: "In eight weeks, he embarked on a spree to steal satnavs, golf clubs - pretty much anything that wasn't attached to the vehicle."
