Jade Goody backs Parliament march over cervical cancer testing

CANCER victims will today march on Parliament to call for the screening age for cervical cancer to be lowered.

Hundreds of women and their families will demand that the test is given at age 20 instead of 25.

It comes amid increasing concern the disease is not being detected until it is too late. Reality television star Jade Goody, whose cervical cancer has spread throughout her body, is supporting the march organised by the parents of 23-year-old Claire Walker, who died last September from the cancer.

Bob and Lynn Walker, Claire's parents from the North-East, will hand a 15,000-signature petition to Downing Street.

The NHS raised the screening age in England from 20 to 25 in 2004 after a study found the disease is rare in teenagers. Last week the Government announced a review of the change.
