Irish lead world for easy living

Ireland has come top of "a quality of life" survey of the best countries to live in.

The Emerald Isle scored 8.33 out of a possible 10 to beat Switzerland, Norway and Luxembourg in The World in 2005, an annual magazine by The Economist.

America came 13th with a score of 7.62 and Britain was 29th. The study matched quality of life survey results with indicators on income, health, freedom, unemployment and family life.

Italy was in eighth place, France 25th and Germany 26th. Zimbabwe came bottom of the league of 110 countries with 3.89 points.
