13 April 2012

An all-women team has completed a world record 2,700-mile row across the Atlantic.

The Row For Freedom Team, who went naked part of the way to avoid chafing, arrived in Barbados yesterday after 45 days at sea. The first five-woman team to row any ocean, they have also completed the fastest crossing of the Atlantic by an all-female team.

The crew took on The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge to raise money for human trafficking charities ECPAT UK and The A21 Campaign. Skipper Debbie Beadle, 31, from High Wycombe, said: "It's overwhelming to see all our family and friends." The rest of the crew are Julia Immonen, 33, Kate Richardson, 23, Katie Pattinson-Hart, 33, and Helen Leigh, 27.
