Hemming targets S&N's £2.4bn pubs

TREVOR Hemmings, the gaming and leisure billionaire whose interests include Blackpool Tower and Pontins, is reported to be preparing to re-enter the bidding for the £2.4bn Scottish & Newcastle pub estate. The deadline for bids is Tuesday.

Hemmings was left off the shortlist of three bidders, but has asked the S&N board to consider a new offer now that the Cinven and CVC-led consortium has walked away.

Hemmings has the backing of HBOS and Royal Bank of Scotland.
