Hearts and roses from four grieving daughters

Kiran Randhawa13 April 2012

THE family of Ian Tomlinson today left floral tributes at the scene where he collapsed and died shortly after he was attacked by a policeman.

His wife left a note alongside a bouquet of daffodils and sunflowers in Cornhill, in the City, where he suffered a heart attack last week.

Julia Tomlinson wrote: "In loving memory of a dear husband and dad. May you rest in peace. You will be sadly missed by us all."

The couple's four daughters Samantha, Katie, Stephanie and Lynsey also left a message next to a bunch of roses.

Mr Tomlinson and his wife, who had been married for 21 years, brought up nine children in the Isle of Dogs. There were five children from Mrs Tomlinson's previous marriage, as well as four of their own. He struggled with alcoholism and eventually separated from his family and moved into a hostel.

Last night investigators ordered a second post-mortem examination into the death after footage of Mr  Tomlinson being thrown to the ground by riot police was released.
