Get slack - that's an order!

Put your feet up: a slacker does it in style

How timely can a national celebration be? After the news that Londoners currently work the longest hours in Europe, there's no better time for us to sit back and relax than today, National Slacker Day!

Reminding us that life does not revolve around the office, the day encourages workers to 'Shop a Workaholic'. Slackers are asked to name and shame those who slave away from 7.30am to 9pm.

Although the day may seem like a lame excuse to do no work it does, in fact, emphasise that it's important for our health to take a day off.

The day even has the support of TV actor and writer Simon Pegg. He says, 'It is vital to understand the importance of doing nothing. Slacking is a necessity; it is Yin to activity's Yang.'

So sorry bosses, if you're fortunate enough for workers to have turned up today you can expect very little work to be done.

Turn the phone off, switch off the PC, get out the fluffy slippers and put your feet up. Slackers unite!

Stand up for your right to sit back down again!
