Europe's financial commissioner Michel Barnier set for first official visit to London

Europe's new financial commissioner has agreed to his first official visit to London on 2 March.
Chancellor Alistair Darling and senior City figures are set to persuade Michel Barnier, an ally to Nicolas Sarkozy, to avoid heavy regulation at a European level.
There was anxiety in the City that the French former minister's policies may undermine London's competitive edge.
