European Masters Football

Despite the rather naff title, this unique event should really get any self-respecting football fan's mouth watering. Bryan Robson, Paul Gascoigne and
Anders Limpar head an all-star cast of former players who, though not in the first flush of youth, still know the route to goal (apart from former Arsenal winger Limpar that is), in this inter-Europe six-a-side tournament for veterans.

Sport and politics have often been uneasy bedfellows, but try telling that to Peter Hain. The Europe Minister has organised the competition to celebrate the expansion of the European Union, soon to welcome 13 new members. It's to be hoped that a bunch of washed-out footballers on their last legs do not become too close a metaphor for the political future of Europe.

Masters Football has proved a huge hit in the past three years, particularly with the Sky Sports schedulers, and Sunday's event should be well worth watching. The four-team tournament includes representatives from Britain, North, South and Central Europe - the first time a team representing Britain has played in a major tournament since 1956. 5pm, £8-£12.

Sun 13 Oct London Arena, Limeharbour, E14 (08705 121 212)
