Eton pupils expelled in drugs 'amnesty'

Four pupils at Eton College have been expelled after testing positive for drugs.

The boys - three from the upper sixth form and one from the lower sixth - had admitted smoking cannabis at the school during an "amnesty" and agreed to undergo tests to prove they no longer took drugs.

But they claim hair samples which tested positive for the class-C drug were then used as grounds to expel them.

The move has outraged the 800 other pupils at the £20,000-a-year school, and they have already staged a traditional protest.

The late-night demonstration, known as a "midnight howl", saw pupils screeching and hooting from school windows for some 10 minutes.

Other protests may now follow at the school, which boasts both Prince William and Prince Harry as recent pupils.

A source told The Sun the school had "pulled a flanker", and that the boys had pointed out when agreeing to random tests that drug traces would remain in their hair until it grew out fully. No one at Eton was available to comment.
