England star arrested after party

12 April 2012

England and Leeds United striker Robbie Fowler has been arrested for alleged criminal damage following an incident after the premiership club's Christmas party.

Fowler, 26, who recently transferred from Liverpool in a £11 million deal, was arrested along with a 25-year-old man in the Hunslet area of Leeds last night.

It is believed Fowler was wearing fancy dress when he was approached by a photographer as he and the other man sat in a taxi, but further details of the fracas remain unclear.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Two men aged 25 and 26 were arrested in relation to an alleged incident of criminal damage in Hunslet at 11.45pm last night.

"They were arrested and released without charged."
