Emails 'link Citibank to rogue trader'

EMAILS recovered from a computer used by Allied Irish Bank rogue trader John Rusnak appear to show he had outside help from a currency dealer at Citibank, America's biggest bank.

According to The Sunday Times, the find was made by investigators probing Rusnak, who lost £483m trading foreign currencies at AIB subsidiary Allfirst.

The newspaper says that sources at Citibank believe the recovered emails clearly show Rusnak had help from his apparent accomplice in covering up the massive losses he made. It quotes the Citibank employee as saying to Rusnak: 'this cannot go on much longer'.
