Drug swoop smashes huge ecstasy ring

Police have smashed a major drugs trafficking racket suspected of supplying ecstasy tablets to London clubs.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man after seizing drugs paraphernalia and quantities of suspected cocaine and heroin at an address in Chiswick.

The arrest was the result of an inquiry code named Operation Alfray. The man was seized at a flat on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers found electronic scales, self-seal bags, quantities of white and brown powder and £300,000 in cash hidden under floorboards.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Beyer, from Scotland Yard's central task force, said: "This arrest is significant in the continued fight against serious and organised crime."
