Dad finds body in fridge

A huge police manhunt was under way today for a man suspected of killing his wife and stacking her dismembered remains in the fridge.

An all ports and airports alert was issued for 34-year-old Paul Dalton, wanted for questioning about the death of his Korean-born wife.

Her remains were discovered at their £500,000 north Kingston home close to the River Thames by Mr Dalton's father when he went to get some milk from the couple's fridge.

The father had popped round to visit the couple and, finding no one at home, had let himself in.

After making a cup of tea he opened the fridge door to get some milk and found the chopped-up remains of Tae Hui Kang wrapped in plastic bags on the shelves.

Mr Dalton is now being urgently sought by detectives who are concerned for his welfare.

He is said to have married the victim seven years ago and to have a six-year-old daughter, who is believed to be in care.

Mr Dalton's father, who reportedly called the police after finding the body, was said to be receiving counselling.

Police sealed off the suburban Woodside Road where the body was found last night and carried out a search of the house plus door-to-door inquiries. Forensic officers in white boiler suits continued to examine the house for clues.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Ephgrave, who is leading the murder inquiry, said: "Police were alerted just after 10.05pm last night by a member of the public.

"At this early stage we are unable to identify the dead woman. There have been no arrests and inquiries continue."

Mr Dalton's car was later discovered by police in Walton-on-Thames, where it is believed his mother lived.

A police source said: "We are extremely concerned to trace the man living at the address where the body was found. We urgently need him to come forward."

The body parts were removed from the house on a stretcher covered by a red blanket.

It is understood they had been placed carefully in plastic bags and then stacked in the fridge.

A post mortem examination into the victim's cause of death was taking place this morning. Specialist teams have been called in to begin detailed searches of the wider area.

Neighbours said the couple kept themselves to themselves. One said: "We hardly saw them except to say hello. They seemed a nice couple."

Neighbour David Richardson said: "Basically we didn't see them, I saw her with what looked like a pram a couple of weeks ago but they didn't tend to mix, certainly they didn't speak to me and I don't believe to others either."

Meanwhile the next-door neighbour, who also declined to give his name, said that the couple had lived in the house for around two years.

"We just said hello that's all, I have heard the name Paul but they kept themselves to themselves. As far as I am concerned they were the nicest neighbours we've had."

He added: "He wasn't what I would call normal - meaning friendly - he just said hello."

The neighbour added that he had only seen the woman once in May of this year when they had just come back from shopping.
