Couple jailed for £1.5m mortgage fraud

12 April 2012

A married couple who bought 11 properties after fraudulently obtaining mortgages worth £1.5 million have both been jailed for two and a half years.

Rhonda Reid, 49, and Roy Wilson, 57, were sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty to several counts of conspiracy to defraud and deception.

Wood Green crown court heard how Enfield council found Reid and Wilson had falsely claimed benefits of £21,000 and £25,000 respectively.

They then discovered that Reid had opened accounts at Abbey Bank, where she had worked, and applied for loans and mortgage accounts using fake identities.
