City banker on trial for wife's murder

HSBC banker Neil Ellerbeck is accused of killing his wife

An Old Bailey jury was today sworn in to hear the case of a City banker accused of strangling his wife.

Neil Ellerbeck, 46, an asset management executive at HSBC's Canary Wharf headquarters in London, denies murder.

He is alleged to have killed Katherine Ellerbeck, 46, at their home in Canford Close, Enfield, north London, in November last year.

Twelve jurors were today sworn in to hear the case before being sent away until the trial starts later this week.
