Blackout could cost New York £470m

NEW York city council Speaker Gifford Morton said the cost to the city and its businesses from last week's power cut could top $750m (£470m).

While power has been returned to most areas, the city is awaiting a critical test as the business week starts today.

In Toronto, Canada, where power has been partly restored, consumers have been asked to halve electricity usage.
