Bill star's ring recovered

The Bill's Jane Wall is celebrating today after recovering the £10,000 diamond toe ring lent to her for the National TV Awards.

Ms Wall - who plays Pc Di Worrell - lost the one-off white gold ring at the post-show party.

The ring, made by De Beers, went missing on the dancefloor at a West End bar when Ms Wall and four other cast members from The Bill took turns outdoing each other with increasingly elaborate dance moves.

But after the Standard highlighted Ms Wall's plight, a thorough search of the Met Bar uncovered the ring under a sofa. Ms Wall, 29, said: "I never thought I'd see it again - it's so obviously an expensive piece of jewellery. I'm thrilled it's turned up - it would have been a very costly night otherwise."

A spokesman for De Beers said: "We are delighted that the diamond ring has been found. It is not usual for jewellery of this value to go missing, but accidents do happen."
