American cheerleaders make Boris Johnson's day

Boris Johnson appeared to be struggling to keep his eye on the ball today when a troupe of US cheerleaders paid him a visit at City Hall.

The Mayor was meeting the San Francisco 49ers cheerleading squad before the annual American football game at Wembley this Sunday.

Mr Johnson has called for 3,000 adult volunteers to lead groups such as Scouts and Guides. More than 7,000 young Londoners are on waiting lists to join organisations.
