A person has died after falling from a height at Canary Wharf station.

Police and paramedics were called to the station at around 3pm after receiving reports of a person falling from a height.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, a spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said.

Witnesses have since described seeing a person on the ground surrounded by emergency services after "falling from the escalators".

A police spokesman said: "Officers were called to Canary Wharf station after reports a person had fallen from height at the station.

"Paramedics also attended and a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."
