The Windsor Castle in Maida Vale, where the Rolling Stones and U2 played their earliest gigs, is for sale.

A hub for major music acts since the Sixties, The Jam and Joe Strummer of The Clash also honed their craft at the W9 venue in the Seventies.

Now set for a new life, it’s on the market at £6.5 million with Lambert Smith Hampton.

Spread over four floors including a basement, it is still laid out as a pub on the ground floor and could be revived as one. However, it also has permission for conversion to student accommodation.
