The San Francisco house where former Hollywood golden couple Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid lived during their 10-year marriage is for sale.

The house features a dramatic wall of glass which frames views directly across the bay to Alcatraz Island and the legendary former high-security federal prison where mafia boss Al Capone served time in the Thirties.

Now a public museum, the disused jail is one of the city’s major tourist attractions.

The pretty, five-bedroom house for sale was home to the star of When Harry Met Sally and her actor/producer husband during the early Nineties.

It covers four floors and boasts spacious dining rooms where they would entertain their famous friends.

There is also a temperature-controlled wine room, a boot room, an annexe with a bar, plus a lift that connects each level.

It is listed at £16 million with Sotheby’s International Realty.
