Beef Wellington baguette and sprout salad, anyone? Frankie McCoy spends a week braving the capital’s newest yuletide dishes

You know what, Wizzard?

No one but you ever wished that it could be Christmas every day. Certainly, no one has ever wished to eat the accompanying festive feast on a daily basis. Nevertheless, at least six weeks before the big day London chefs decide to give normal dishes the Xmas factor. What isn’t improved by cranberry sauce/mincemeat/sprouts, they ask themselves? The answer, of course, is that mini bombs of flatulence improve nothing. But say that, and you’re a festive cheer-sucking Scrooge.

So to avoid any hint of Grinch, I spent a week eating the grub on offer to those who wish it could be Christmas lunch, every daaa-aaay.
