Calum Franklin launches five-course pie tasting menu at Holborn Dining Room

Chef and pastry sensation Calum Franklin has launched a five-course pie tasting menu at his acclaimed restaurant Holborn Dining Room.

For diners who want to have their pie and then eat another four, the decadent menu is served in the restaurant’s Pie Room – an open kitchen and private dining space dedicated to the restaurant’s signature cuisine. The tasting menu will set diners back £100 a head, with wine pairings offered with each pie for an additional £50.

The menu, which is now available for bookings, features either a sweet or savoury pie for each course. The dinner begins with a rabbit, pork and pistachio en croute served with a plum chutney, which is followed by a luxurious lobster thermidor tart.

Diners will then move onto a potato, comté and caramelised onion pie which is accompanied by a parsley sauce. Still not had your pastry fill? The menu then boasts a traditional steak and kidney pudding, followed by an apple tarte tatin and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The glass-fronted Pie Room, which launched last year, allows visitors to the Rosewood London hotel a change to watch Franklin and his team construct his famously intricate pies. During the day it is a working kitchen which sells takeaway pies through its “Pie Hole”, before turning into an atmospheric private dining area by night, seating up to 10 people.
