Dan Doherty has left Duck & Waffle after nearly six years as head chef.

He had been executive chef since the 24 hour restaurant launched in 2012 on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower in Liverpool Street, later becoming chef director.

Doherty has been involved in various other ventures including co-founding the TMRW Project which helps up-and-coming chefs serve their food in professional kitchens, and launching vegetarian pop-up Sprout in Harvey Nichols last June.

He has confirmed that he will be opening a solo restaurant soon, and while he isn’t revealing any details at this point, it's likely to be a permanent site for Sprout.

Tom Cenci, who has been executive head chef with Doherty as director, will continue on in this role at the restaurant.

Doherty is soon to be appearing in BBC show series, Britain’s Best Home Cook, which starts on May 3. He will be judging amateur cooks alongside Mary Berry and and produce expert Chris Bavin.
