A moon what, you say? Everyone loves a good slice of cake, but the mooncake is no ordinary dessert.

Made to celebrate China’s mid-autumn festival, these soft, velvety pastries are said to represent the principles of family and togetherness. And they come stuffed with red bean or lotus seed paste, meaning they definitely deserve a spot on your nom list.

Which is good news as a new pop up will be dishing out the finest Hong Kong MX Mooncakes in Chinatown at weekends until October 22. To get your hands on one, head on down to Newport Place.

From traditional white lotus seed paste offerings to lava custard and outré, there’s plenty on offer to ignite your taste buds.

And in case you were wondering, this particular brand of mooncake has been the bestselling for the last 19 years. Impressive.

Find Hong Kong MX Mooncakes at Unit 14, Newport Place, Friday to Sundays, 10am-8pm until October 22
