Quality combos: the grilled gouda toastie

London is currently oozing with melted cheese as posh toastie pop-ups and street food vans springing up all over town and at festivals. In fact, the capital's first grilled cheese restaurant, Melt Room, opened earlier this year in Soho.

And now, there could be a cheese toastie subscription on the horizon. Cheese Postie, has launched a Kickstarter campaign today to get the world's first toastie delivery service rolling.

So how does it work? Sign up and each week you'll receive all the components for a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich. Al you have to do is assemble it, toast it, and eat it. And you won't need a special toastie machine, each delivery comes complete with a special heatproof bag, so you can toast at home or work.

Postbox-friendly: your cheese toastie ingredients

Its founders, Dan Jennings and Dave Rotheroe say: "We believe grilled cheese sandwiches are a basic human need like water, oxygen or bacon.

Cheese Posties is about revolutionising people's lunch and offering a bit of surprise and variety into a really versatile food format. It’s a sorry state of affairs when you spend 30 of your 60 minute lunch break queuing for a soulless supermarket sandwich. We want to use our knowledge and facilities to shake the boat a little and bring world class grilled cheese to everyone. And on their own schedule!”

Each week's parcel will contain a different combination of artisan breads, quality cheeses and condiments such as the French Onion Soup toastie made with gruyere, caramelised onion and French mustard. Other fillings available include chorizo, bacon and various chutneys.

All you need...

But it's not all about the savoury. There'll be sweet treats coming through your letterbox such as the Chocolate Cheesecake involving cream cheese and nutella.

A weekly subscription costs £3.99 (postage included) and don't worry, the package has been designed to fit exactly through your letterbox, so you won't have to traipse to the post office. Gluten-free? They can cater for that too.

Post just got a lot more exciting.
