Silver Lining to relaunch as the UK’s first orange wine bar in Hackney

Hackney restaurant Silver Lining is due to reopen as the UK’s first ever orange wine bar.

The London Fields hotspot is set to open its doors once again on July 8, and will do so with a renewed dedication to skin contact wines, which develop an orange hue due to the white wine grape skins being left in contact with the juice during production.

The idea is an evolution of the restaurant's popular weekly orange wine night, "Orange Wednesdays".

“Currently, even in a specialist establishment, you may only find one or two orange wines on a menu,” says Silver Lining managing director Sarah Maddox, “which is why we’ve continued to work with our fantastic wine growers and suppliers, to present a range of orange and skin contact wine that really shows the breadth and variety of this category.”

The bar will initially open as a bottle shop, selling more than 30 varieties of orange wine, as well as bottled cocktails from its sibling venue Every Cloud, as well as coffee and pastries available to take away during the day.

Due to its size and current government guidelines, Silver Lining is not currently able to operate fully as a bar or restaurant, but is looking to introduce table service and a small plates food menu “later in the year”. Cocktail bar Every Cloud, located next door on Morning Lane, is due to reopen in the autumn.

Silver Lining will reopen at 13 Morning Lane, E9 6ND, on July 8, open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am-7pm. Wine can be purchased between 12pm and 7pm, pastries and coffee from 10am-4pm. For more information, visit silverlininge9.com
