Multi-faceted Coach & Horses Hotel is solid pub

Unpretentious, modern pub grub: The Coach & Horses Hotel
10 April 2012

Despite being a fairly typical Wells' and Young's refurbishment, (loungey furnishings etc.) the Coach and Horses does a pretty good job of balancing it's job as a hotel, dining room and local pub.

Evenings find the pub populated by plenty of regulars, mainly middle aged men, but sunny weekends will see the front terrace filled with people lunching and brunching, despite the always-busy traffic.

A large part of the the front of the pub is set out as dining room and food prices are reasonable - between £8 and £13 for unpretentious, freshly-prepared, modern pub grub.

The choice of ale on the pumps is adequate (Young's Best, Special and Bombardier) and look out for a large bottled range behind the bar, along with a good wine list.

The pub is very well maintained and the service is friendly and efficient.

It's good, solid pub that handle its multiple roles with measured calm, it's a well-deserved three-pinter.
