The Affordable Art Fair

When Will Ramsay set up The Affordable Art Fair in 1999 his aim was to make art accessible to everyone and prove that you don’t need to be an expert to purchase and enjoy leading contemporary art.

More than ten years on The Affordable Art Fair hosts ten fairs in six countries across three continents, and is the UK’s leading showcase for contemporary art under £4,000.

A firm favourite with Londoners, The Affordable Art Fair is at Battersea Park this spring from March 15 – 18 with big names and up-and-coming artists from the worlds of print, painting, photography and sculpture.

Ramsay attributes the fair’s growing success to its relaxed and friendly environment, which he believes is often missing from the sometimes exclusive world of art. “I wanted people to know they don’t have to be a squillionaire to collect and enjoy art. AAF’s winning formula is simple – an unstuffy environment for people to feel confident to explore and learn about contemporary painting, sculpture, photography and original print from a huge variety of both established and emerging artists all priced between £40 and £4,000.”

The fair could be a family day out, as it offers free activities, talks and print-making workshops suitable for all ages as part of its education programme.

With over 100 galleries exhibiting at this year’s event there will be plenty of choice, including work from comedian Vic Reeves, big name in the design world Noma Barr and Jamie Reid, who's best known for creating album artwork for the Sex Pistols.
