The Standard can reveal a first look at the Cirque du Soleil’s latest show to arrive in the UK, Corteo.

The production, playing in London for the first time, will run at the O2 next year from June 24-July 5. It marks 30 years since the Canadian circus troupe first performed in Britain, when they make their UK debut with Le Cirque Réinventé.

With organisers promising Corteo will be “really different from anything that’s been here before with Cirque” – and a contrast to their Mexico-inspired show Luzia, arriving at the Royal Albert Hall in January – the show brings the fantastical imagination of a clown to life, featuring grand processions, festival parades and stunning acrobatics, with stage designs inspired by the Eiffel Tower. It is set somewhere between heaven and earth.

Corteo, which is directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, has previously toured in 20 countries and played to more than nine million people.

The show will also visit the Leeds First Direct Arena from June 18-21. Tickets for the UK shows go on sale at 9am on October 18 and can be bought here.
