Think you know everything there is to know about The Beatles? Think again. Backbeat, the West End's latest slick musical about the Fab Four, is a revealing account of the band's journey to stardom.
Co-written by Iain Softley and Stephen Jeffreys, the show is based on the 1994 film of the same name.
It follows John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe's route from the docks of Liverpool to the seedy red light district of Hamburg, Germany. And throws in some of the big hits along the way - from Love Me Do to Twist and Shout.
But this isn't just an excuse to rifle through the back catalogue. At the heart of the production is a genuinely compelling and, at times, moving tale recounted by a sparky cast.
