One Direction’s Niall Horan showed off his football skills during filming on ITV show Play to the Whistle.

The pop star took part in a round of the Saturday night sports comedy show that involved him in a round of keepy-uppy with Man City footballer and Play to the Whistle team captain Frank Lampard.

First to take up the challenge was the show’s other team captain Bradley Walsh and his team member Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty, the World Superbike champion, who managed an impressive 13 headers between them.

However, Niall and Frank Lampard proved their superior skills with a score of 22, despite the distraction of Walsh shouting, “Oi, Niall, mind you don’t break your hair!”

The One Direction star remained calm and focused during the task, with Lampard the one to break the run with a low shot that Horan could not hope to reach.

While Niall has been having fun on game shows, the rest of the week has seen further tension in the One Direction camp – on Wednesday, former band member Zayn Malik blasted ex-bandmate Louis Tomlinson on Twitter, saying: “remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine ?”

Malik’s tweet came after accusations from Tomlinson that producer Naughty Boy, now working with Malik, was “riding on the back of [Zayn’s] career”.
