Strap in: the interviews round of The Apprentice is here, and it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

It’s the part of the process that viewers look forward to and candidates dread every year, as four of Lord Sugar’s close business pals take a look at the remaining hopefuls.

As with every year, it’s a brutal stage of the competition.

No stone is left unturned as the interviewers pore over the candidates’ CVs and business plans – you can see the moment that they instantly regret the outlandish boasts they wrote down on their application forms.

This year on the panel is Mike Soutar, Claudine Collins, Claude Littner, and newcomer Linda Plant.

Soutar gives candidate Richard Woods a dressing down over a claim on the website of his current business – that they’re Surrey’s number one digital marketing agency.

“Is that an award you’ve won?” he asks, as Woods reveals that the credit came from a poll in a morning business group meeting he attended.

Of course, Soutar is unimpressed: “So… from a chat around a breakfast?”

While Woods claims that it’s “my mistake”, it’s not enough to get him out of the firing line.

“That just appears like more than just a sloppy mistake,” says Soutar. “It appears to me to be misleading.”

Ouch. Prepare for the full intensity of the interviews stage when the episode airs.
