Reese Witherspoon has shared the first still from the second season of Big Little Lies, featuring the first look at Meryl Streep in character.
The US actress shared the snap on her social media accounts on Thursday to celebrate the upcoming season.
The picture shows Oscar-winner Streep making her debut on the show, while returning cast member Nicole Kidman appears to be cuddled up with her on-screen children.
Witherspoon captioned the image: “Can’t wait for y’all to see what we have in store ! #BigLittleLies2 @HBO.”
Eyes Wide Shut actress Kidman also shared the photograph, with the caption: “First day on the set with Meryl and “my” darling boys! #BigLittleLies.”
Both actresses sent fans into a frenzy online with some declaring them both a “tease.”
Commenting on the picture, one wrote: “I can't wait! #BIGLITTLELIES2 I'm so excited. Your acting on the first series was amazing I was in tears and laughter.
“Ladies you was all so amazing I truly can't wait for #BigLittleLies2.”
Another posted: “OMG!!!!!!!! Now Meryls getting involved.. This is too much!!”
Meanwhile one said: “This is perfect.”
The show includes a host of prolific actors including Shailene Woodley, Adam Scott, Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz.
Big Little Lies is set to return for its second season next year.
