While most of the nation was getting behind the England World Cup squad during their nail-biting match against Colombia, some Love Island fans were left fuming.

When both sides failed to score during extra time, the match went to penalties, prompting ITV2 to push Tuesday night’s episode back to 10pm instead of the original start time of 9pm.

Despite England’s last minute win, some viewers were more concerned that they were missing their favourite reality show and got even angrier when they realised that some scenes had been cut.

“Cannot believe @itv2 have delayed #loveisland even further! Some of us need our sleep #outraged #Notafootballfan,” one angry fan wrote on Twitter.

“The only emotion I have is anger that love island was delayed,” posted another person in response to the jubilant outpouring after England’s win.

One person wrote: “Ffs. Why does everything revolve around the bloody football? It’s not even on the same channel.”

But while England’s match against Colombia had a happy ending, there were bleak scenes in the Love Island villa as fall-out from the dramatic re-coupling continued.

England v Colombia: The best reactions

Georgia was left in tears after a conversation with her former partner Josh went from bad to worse after he decided to ditch her for new girl Kaz.

“I had a connection with someone else in here, Josh. I think we both had our little tests. I passed mine because I’m a loyal girl. Yes, I’m a flirt but I know the boundaries,” she told him as he sat and rolled his eyes.

“You have no idea how much you’ve hurt me. I have never laid my cards out on the table to a guy ever and that was such a big step for me and I did that… I cannot believe what is going on.”

At least Georgia has won the heart of the nation.
